Your gift and your taxes

Is my gift tax-deductible?: Oasis Church is a church located in Winter Haven, Florida. Churches are treated as tax-exempt charitable organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, so gifts are generally deductible to the extent allowed by law. Whether a deduction helps you depends on your own return — your tax advisor can tell you for sure.
What record will I receive?: You will receive an emailed receipt for each gift, and a consolidated contribution statement for the calendar year by January 31 of the following year.
Gifts of $250 or more: The IRS requires a written acknowledgment from the church for any single gift of $250 or more, and you need it before you file your return. Your statement includes the required wording: no goods or services were provided in exchange for your gift other than intangible religious benefits.
Can I choose where my gift goes?: Yes — you may direct a gift to any fund listed above. So that your gift remains deductible, the church must retain final authority over how funds are spent. Your selection is treated as a designation to an approved ministry of the church rather than a binding restriction.
Can I give to a specific person or family?: Gifts earmarked for a named individual are not tax-deductible. If you would like to help someone in need, please give to Benevolence & Care. You are welcome to share a suggestion with our staff, and the church will prayerfully decide how to use the fund.
What about processing fees?: Your entire payment is treated as a charitable contribution, including any amount you add to cover processing costs. The church records the fee as an expense.
