Discipleship

Discipling is not a program. It is not a podcast preacher. It is not a one-size-fits-all information transfer. It is life-on-life loving in word and deed. Jesus told us to go and make disciples of all nations. As the church grows and personal lives are centered on the Gospel, we will discover that our relationship with Christ entails a serious commitment to the study of the Bible—a body of knowledge and truth that God wants us to learn, live, and teach to others for us to fully flourish as His people. Discipleship is God’s method for expanding your knowledge of who He is and how He is at work in your life and in our world. Whether you are just beginning to explore Christian spirituality or are looking to dig deep into the teachings of the Christian faith, our aim is to help you “grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

At Oasis, we strive to provide a variety of growth opportunities to renew our minds and hearts and to equip our hands to engage the world. We want to help you get established in the faith and be equipped to live it out in everyday life. Every person who has put their faith, hope, and trust in Jesus, is a disciple of Jesus. The word disciple is used to describe someone who has come to know, love, and serve Jesus. As we look at churches that have made the discipleship journey for others a priority, one thing is clear: There is no magic formula for making disciples. The process looks different in each church. Discipleship is based on a relationship. Jesus chose His disciples and developed a close relationship with them. He taught them how to be His followers within a context of a relationship.
